Bayley's £8million blunder

MP Hugh Bayley's claim that York "received an additional £14million in grant this year" has been proved to be bogus. Red-faced House of Commons officials admitted they mistyped a figure, meaning York is £8 million worse off than the MP claimed.
Steve Galloway said:
"Ironically the extra £8million that Hugh Bayley thought the Council had received is almost exactly the extra amount that we feel the government should be giving to York in the first place."

"No doubt we can expect Hugh Bayley's full support for our claim for a fairer share of the grant cake for the City in future. £8million extra would take a lot of the pressure off Council Taxpayers in the City while allowing us to deal with the needs of the increasing numbers of elderly and disabled customers that we must care for."
"It is time that York residents received a fair share of the national grant cake."
