EcoDepot solar roof panels now in place

New Solar Panels at the Eco-Depot
Cllr Christian Vassie (City of York Council's Energy Champion) said "The installation of the solar panels shows the ecoDepot is now well on the way to completion. It is hugely encouraging that, after two and a half years' work, York will soon have an iconic building to demonstrate the Council's commitment to tackling climate change. It is very easy to utter fine words about the environment, but here in York the Liberal Democrats have taken positive action.
"As the Council's Energy Champion, I am sure that the success of the ecoDepot will encourage other Councils to commission similar buildings. I also hope it will give City of York Council greater confidence to consider sustainable technologies where possible.
"It will be a feature of the ecoDepot that it properly records the energy and water savings resulting from the building's design. For years to come, we will be able to show the savings this sustainable construction will deliver for local taxpayers."
