Heworth Without residents are set to see resurfacing to several of their roads. A council report detailing a programme of road maintenance work to be carried out throughout the city from April was brought to the City Strategy EMAP on Monday, and approved by the Liberal Democrat Executive Member for City Strategy, Cllr Ann Reid, and other members of the committee.
Amongst the roads to be maintained across the city, are several in Heworth Without;
Whitby Avenue, Whitby Drive and Caedmon Close are all to be resurfaced.
Liberal Democrat Cllr for Heworth Without, Nigel Ayre, is delighted with the approved resurfacing works. He said, "I have witnessed first hand and spoken to many residents about the problems with the surfaces of these roads, and I am very pleased that work will soon be underway to repair them.

"Heworth Without has suffered from decades of underfunding, and there is certainly a lot to be done on road repairs all over the ward. We have also just had Galtres Road repaired in Heworth Without, and I was happy with the speed at which this repair work was carried out. I know the Council will be monitoring the condition of the road and will arrange repairs as and when required. I will be pushing for more work to be done in the future on roads that need resurfacing in my ward."
Heworth Without residents, and other York residents affected by the resurfacing works, will be notified by letter before the maintenance work is carried out in a few months' time.
