City of York Council has heard that the bid for funding from the Cycling Towns and Cities programme has been short listed.
Cycling England has invited the Council to present the bid at a meeting in Birmingham at the end of the month.
Cllr Ann Reid Executive Member for City Strategy said today "I am delighted with this news. I understand that this was a very popular programme with over 70 Local Authorities bidding for funds. To be short listed is an achievement in itself and reflects the hard work from both Officers and partners that went into producing the bid within a very short time scale. I feel that we have a very strong bid which builds on York's position as a "cycling town". If we are successful it will allow us to make a step change in improving facilities for cyclists to make the City truly cycle friendly."
