Liberal Democrat Councillor for Fulford, Keith Aspden, is delighted with news today that the Connaught Court Public Inquiry has been dismissed. He made representations on behalf of residents for the development to be rejected at the Connaught Court RMBI public inquiry last month.
Cllr Aspden said, "I am delighted that the Connaught Court public inquiry has been dismissed, having fought against this development on behalf of local residents in order to protect the Fulford Village Conservation area."
"The Connaught Court development would have had a harmful impact on the openness of the Greenbelt and the Conservation Area. I know this outcome will be great news to many Fulford residents who have approached me with their concerns about the negative impact the development would have on their quality of life."
"Fulford residents want to maintain the character, identity and quality of the Conservation Area and the local environment of Fulford Village which has been threatened by a range of proposals, from the Germany Beck housing development to smaller schemes for single houses off Main Street. Hopefully this great outcome will set the pattern for more appropriate developments in the Fulford area."
