Cllr Keith Aspden at School Lane.
Fulford's School Lane is to have its flooding problems rectified as the Council has set aside funding to carry out drainage repair works there. School Lane has been added to the list of priority locations for drainage repair works in this year's budget.
A one-off allocation of £200,000 has been set aside for tackling troublesome drainage problems in the city. The money will be used to investigate problems and carry out repair works to remove as many of the persistent drainage problems as possible. The bulk of the money, estimated at £180k, will be spent on repairing and rectifying drainage problems in the most critical locations, whilst £20k will be spent on surveying drainage systems and investigating issues.
Liberal Democrat Councillor for Fulford, Keith Aspden, asked council officers to prioritise School Lane as a location with flooding problems which urgently need to be rectified.
He said, "I am very pleased that School Lane has been included in the priority list, as the flooding has been a problem for local residents, cyclists and school children who use the nearby snicket. I will continue to make representations to the Council to ensure that the drainage issues at the end of School Lane are improved."
