At the full council meeting tonight (25th September), Leader of City of York Council, Andrew Waller, will set out the determination of the Executive to progress the Community Stadium project.
It was decided by the Executive at their meeting on 9th September that a Project Manager would be appointed to deliver the community stadium project. The post will be advertised within the next four weeks, and in the meantime council officers are working on the project. It is currently being led by Bill Woolley, Director of City Strategy.
The Executive Meeting on 9th September welcomed the work that has been done by Jason McGill and York City Football Club in approaching the Football Foundation. This was ultimately successful in resolving the issue of the loan which meant that none of the options that had been developed for the Council to assist were required.
Cllr Waller said, "The Executive have made their position clear in terms of progressing the project so that a full business case can come back to council for Councillors to vote on. It is a matter on record in my report tonight, and so it will be up to other parties to express what alternative course of action they would propose."
