The Hungate Scrutiny Panel have made an official Freedom of Information request to English Heritage, to receive copies of all internal documents relating to the Hungate development. At its formal meeting on the 10th December, panel members discussed their interim report, including the outcomes from meetings with senior council officers from Property Services, Planning and Risk Management, and English Heritage.
Councillor Keith Aspden, Fulford's Liberal Democrat councillor who Chairs the Scrutiny Panel, commented: "We have considered a wide range of evidence on the Hungate process, including on project governance, the site, consultation, risk and the budget. One of the main points is that council officers have expressed their surprise at the final decision of English Heritage to object to the development, and we will be looking closely at any documents and evidence from English Heritage to identify their views of the evolving project."
Councillor Tom Holvey, Lib Dem councillor for Dringhouses and Woodthorpe, added: "We will be questioning a range of other witnesses next month, including senior financial officers, as part of the scrutiny review. This will continue to help us form our recommendations in January."
