One of the most important annual education events is set to come to York in 2010. The North of England Education Conference will be held from the 6th to the 8th of January 2010.
The conference is the largest of it's kind and has run for more than a hundred years. The conference gives delegates from all areas of the education sector the chance to hear internationally renowned speakers and take part in a variety of workshops.
The conference will be based at the Royal York Hotel and will feature events at York Minster, York University, York College and York St John University.
The announcement that the conference will be staged in York was made at this year's conference which is being held the Wirral and Chester from the 7th to the 9th of January 2009.
The 2010 conference in York will see speakers including Sir Michael Bichard, Baroness Estelle Morris and York University Professor Jonathan Bradshaw CBE.
Councillor Carol Runciman, Liberal Democrat Executive Member for Children and Young People's Services said, "This is a highly prestigious event and I am delighted that we have managed to bring it to York."
The fact that there will be many high profile and interesting speakers as well as delegates from all over the country is a feather in the cap of the city and an endorsement of the excellent education system we have here."
"York is a wonderful and historic city and we hope everyone will enjoy their stay here."
