This week is Noise Action Week and City of York Council are reminding people of the action they can take to deal with noisy neighbours.
Noise Action Week is an annual initiative coordinated by Environmental Protection UK, that aims to raise awareness of the problems caused by neighbour noise and the solutions available to tackle it.
Environmental Protection Officers from City of York Council will be visiting local primary schools throughout Noise Action week to talk to the children about the impact of noise on their neighbours.
The officers will also be putting up posters about noise and what to do about it at a variety of locations around York, including supermarkets, health centres, doctors' surgeries, York Hospital, community centres and libraries.
Liberal Democrat Executive Member for Neighbourhood Services, Councillor Ann Reid said the Council was committed to helping resolve problems caused by noisy neighbours.
Councillor Reid said, ""Noisy neighbours can make life a misery for those residents who have to live next door. City of York Council are keen to take a very proactive approach to dealing with noise nuisance."
"The weekend noise patrol is a particularly valued service as it gives residents recourse to help when the nuisance is actually happening. If residents are having problems with noisy neighbours the Council can help to resolve problems and will not hesitate to take effective action."
