Residents of York are set to celebrate they city's rivers next month as the popular Festival of the Rivers comes to town.
Special events marking the role of the Foss and the Ouse in the history of York will be taking place during the festival which runs from the 11th to the 26th of July.
The wide range of events on offer include the annual dragon boat race, the Raft Regatta in Marygate and the 88th birthday party for Rowntree Park.
History enthusiasts will be able to learn more about the role of the rivers in the city's past with a re-enactment of live in York in 1644, while those feeling active will be able to take part in canoe training sessions.
The festival will also see Tower Gardens playing host to Salsa lessons and a Latino themed party.
Liberal Democrat Executive Member for Leisure and Culture, Councillor Nigel Ayre said the activities on offer would appeal to a range of people. He said, "The Festival of the Rivers has been very popular in the past and I am sure this year's programme of events will make the festival even more successful."
"We are working hard to put on a wide variety of cultural events in York this summer and the Festival of the Rivers is just one part of what is a very exciting programme."
