Haxby & Wigginton residents will soon be able to enjoy the sounds of summer birds more clearly after the PCT decided to restore the ear syringing service to their local Health Centre
Residents were being sent to the NHS walk in centre in Monkgate after the service was withdrawn from the local centre
Haxby and Wigginton Councillor Richard Watson said a number of residents had contacted him about the issue. He said, "Many people were having trouble accessing the service once it was moved away from the Haxby & Wigginton Health Centre"
"Elderly residents especially found it difficult to get transport to the walk in centre and some also had issues getting appointments."
"I raised the issue with the PCT and, having held discussions with those involved, they have agreed to reintroduce the service to Haxby soon. At the moment there is no set date for when the service will be reintroduced but I have been reassured that they are working on a solution."
"I am very pleased that the PCT have decided to restore the service and it is good to see them responding to the needs of local people."
