City of York Council is taking steps to becoming an excellent, efficient council with the launch of an efficiency review programme.
The improvement programme, titled 'More for York' will deliver more efficient, more customer focused services that will provide even more value for money.
Liberal Democrat Executive Member for Corporate Services, Councillor Richard Moore said, "Over three years the programme will deliver £15m in efficiencies while at the same time delivering more focused and efficient services for customers."
"It is an exciting project that will transform the way the Council works to make it even more efficient and provide even better value for money. We want City of York Council to be an excellent, forward thinking council and this project is a positive step towards achieving this aim."
"The current financial climate means that the funding the Council receives from central government is likely to be lower than in previous years. This efficiency programme will allow the Council to operate within a smaller budget, while at the same time giving customers the benefit of more efficient services with a greater focus on the customer."
A report containing the proposals for the first year of the project from the Council's efficiency partners Northgate Kendric Ash will go before the Council's Executive for approval on 7th July.
Councillor Moore said, "Northgate Kendric Ash have already delivered £200,000 in efficiencies in the Council's community transport service, so we know they can deliver for us."
"The £15m in efficiencies is on top of the fees paid to NKA and if they don't make the efficiencies they don't get their fees."
