Residents in the Fishergate and Hull Road Wards will soon get the chance to slash their heating bills thanks to free loft and cavity wall insulation offered by City of York Council.
From 17th August representatives from the Council's Neighbourhood Management Unit will be visiting each property in the eligible areas to explain what is on offer.
The £120,000 initiative was announced as part of the Liberal Democrat budget in February and will be delivered with the Energy Partnership and the Energy Savings Trust Advice Centre.
Liberal Demcorat Leader of the Council, Councillor Andrew Waller said, "This scheme is part of our commitment to making York a more sustainable city by giving people the resources to reduce their carbon footprint."
"As well as giving people a welcome reduction in their energy bills the scheme will give a boost to the local economy by providing jobs for local installers."
