A project which runs creative music sessions in York's care homes is appealing for more people to take part in it's activities.
Music in Care Homes is a project funded by the council and Arts Council England and runs weekly sessions in care homes across the city.
The project, which began earlier this year, also works to encourage other community art groups into care homes to provide activities for elderly residents and their families.
Later this month the project will be holding an information event at Friends Meeting House, Friargate to encourage more people to take part in the sessions and to allow participants to share their views of the service.
Liberal Democrat Executive Member for Housing and Adult Social Services, Councillor Jonathan Morley said projects like Music in Care Homes could improve the quality of care for older people.
He said, "Projects like this help to keep our care home residents happy, healthy and active. They also provide a great opportunity for their families and care home staff to join together and have some fun."
"Music can also be a great way of triggering memories and getting people talking about events in their lives. It really helps bring our care home residents together."
"Hopefully the information event will encourage more people to get involved in this fantastic project."
The information event will take place on Thursday 15th October from 2pm - 4pm.
