A new name has been chosen for the Oakland's Sports Centre to celebrate the opening of the new £7m swimming pool.
The centre will be renamed to 'Energise' when the new facilities open later this year.
Over a hundred proposals for the new name were put forward by customers, staff, sports clubs and members of the general public.
Liberal Democrat Executive Member for Leisure, Culture and Social Inclusion, Councillor Nigel Ayre said the new name suited the Council's aims for the new facilities.
He said, "Energise was a popular choice for the new name, it really sums up what the new facilities are all about. We want to encourage people to get into exercise and these fantastic new facilities should inspire people to enjoy keeping fit and healthy."
"The new facilities will help us to build on the excellent success of the Oaklands Sports Centre and will hopefully encourage even more people to get active and feel energised."
Visitors to Energise will be able to enjoy a range of new facilities including a new 6 lane 25 metre pool, learner pool, hydrotherapy pool, changing village, viewing area and on-site crèche.
Other facilities will also include an extended and modernised gym, new car parking, cycle parks, refurbished sports hall and numerous new energy saving design features.
