Some of the country's top politicians and education professionals will be descending on York in January as one of the UK's most important education conferences takes place in York.
NEEC 2010 (formerly known as the North England Education Conference) will be held in York from 6th - 8th January 2010.
Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families, Ed Balls announced today that he will be attending the conference.
The Secretary of State will join Liberal Democrat Shadow Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families David Laws as well as Council Leaders and Children's Services portfolio holders from across the country.
NEEC 2010 will also bring together education professionals from across the country and will feature guest speakers including Sir Michael Bichard, Baroness Estelle Morris and York University Professor Jonathan Bradshaw CBE.
The conference is the largest of it's kind and has run for more than a hundred years.
The conference is being hosted by City of York Council, working in partnership with education and skills providers across the city, including the University of York, York St John University and York College.
