Residents in York are being encouraged to take part in a world record attempt next weekend.
As part of National Tree Week people across the world will be aiming to break the world record for planting the most trees in one hour in multiple locations.
The current record stands at an impressive 653,143 trees.
The York section of the record attempt will take place on Saturday 5th December, from 11am to 12 noon in West Bank Park, Holgate.
Organisers hope that up to 200 trees will be planted in West Bank Park as part of the record attempt.
Liberal Democrat Executive Member for Leisure, Councillor Nigel Ayre said, "Trying to break a world record is a fun way to get people involved in planting trees and improving their local park."
"Events like this that bring the community together to enjoy the park are the main reason behind the park's success in achieving Green Flag status again this year."
"I wish everyone involved luck and hope they have a great time and are successful in the record attempt."
Places at the event are free but need to be booked in advance by phoning 07771941155 or emailing rangers@york.gov.uk
