The consultation on proposed changes to the A19/A1237 roundabout in Rawcliffe comes to an end next week and local Liberal Democrat Councillor Richard Moore is urging residents and road users to make sure they have their say on the plans.
Displays showing the proposed layouts are available at Clifton Library, Rawcliffe Bar Park & Ride site and the council offices at 9, St Leonard's Place until Friday 18th December when the consultation closes.
The consultation is also available online at http://www.york.gov.uk/transport/Local_transport_plan/a19roundabout/.
The proposed changes, which are estimated to cost £1.4m, are designed to improve the capacity of the roundabout to reduce congestion in the area.
Councillor Moore said it was important that as many people as possible who would be affected by the changes responded to the consultation.
He said, "The consultation gives people the chance to influence the final designs so it is vital that people have their say at this stage."
"I would encourage everyone who lives in the area and those who use the roundabout regularly to respond to the consultation. It is important that people look at what is being proposed and make their views known."
Following the consultation further design work will take place to take into account the results of the consultation. Final plans will be submitted for approval by Councillors in early 2010, with work commencing in the autumn.
