Youth groups in York have the chance to bid for their share of a £140,000 fund to by new equipment, improve facilities or hire buildings or staff thanks to a scheme run by City of York Council.
YorKash is inviting groups to bid for funding from the Youth Opportunities and Youth Capital Funds, both provided by central government.
Any youth project in York can put in a bid to the funds for a minimum of £1500.
Last year ten local projects benefited from the fund, including New Earswick Basketball Group, The Jam Project and Skaterbeach.
Bids for the funds will be evaluated by a panel of young people, who have also been involved in designing the funding and bidding process.
Liberal Democrat Executive Member for Children and Young People's Services, Councillor Carol Runciman said, "Funding to help youth groups in the city is always welcome, but the great thing about this funding is that the bids are evaluated by a group of young people, this means that money goes to projects which they themselves see as a priority."
"It is important that young people are able to influence the type of facilities and activities that are available to them and by deciding on which groups get funding from this project they will be having a real impact on the activities for young people in the city."
The deadline for applying to the fund is 12th February. More details are available from www.yor-ok.org.uk/YorKash
