City of York Council's successful partnership with Aviva is set to provide more workshops to help residents balance their budgets as people feel the effects of the Christmas spending.
The courses will give people tips on setting and sticking to a budget, as well as helping people understand more about bank accounts, savings and insurance.
The courses are the third phase of the Learn and Thrive project delivered by the partnership between City of York Council and Aviva. Similar courses last year proved very popular as residents sought tips on how to get through the recession.
The partnership between City of York Council and Aviva has been nominated for an award at the Local Government Chronicle Awards in London later this year and is being hailed as an example of what can be achieved when businesses and local government work together.
Liberal Democrat Executive Member for Leisure, Culture and Social Inclusion, Councillor Nigel Ayre said, "January can be a difficult time financially for many people, credit card bills from Christmas need paying and the cold weather means heating bills are likely to be high."
"The courses run as part of the Learn and Thrive partnership have proven very popular in the past, with many people saying how useful they have been."
"It is great to see the positive impact that our partnership with Aviva is having for the people of York."
Both courses will be held at libraries across the city between now and April.
