Councillor Carol Runciman
York's A Level students are celebrating today as results show they have once again achieved excellent results and exceeded the national average.
Provisional results show that 27.8% of students achieved an A* or A grade, above the national average of 27%.
The pass rate (those achieving A* to E grades) was also slightly above the national average at 97.8%, compared to 97.6% nationally.
Liberal Democrat Executive Member for Children and Young People's Services, Councillor Carol Runciman welcomed the results.
She said, "The young people who have received their results today should be exceptionally proud of their achievements. It takes a great deal of hard work to get such fantastic results."
"Whether they decide to go on to further study at university or college or venture into the world of work these results will stand these young people in good stead."
"Parents, teachers and staff should also take great credit for these results, without their dedication and support these results would not have been possible."
