Councillor Richard Moore
Liberal Democrat Executive Member for Corporate Services Richard Moore is urging small and medium enterprises to attend the 'Meet The Buyer' event this week.
Representatives from a range of Council departments will be on hand to give help and advice on how local businesses can engage with the Council. The Council has joined up with Business Link, Chamber of Commerce, and York Professionals to provide this event, to help support local and regional SMEs.
The event will take place at Guildhall on Thursday 2 September from 9am until 4pm, and businesses must sign up to attend. This will guarantee that suppliers have quality time with the relevant council officer.
The Council procurement team will be on hand throughout the day to explain how businesses can register as a supplier with the council, bid for contracts, and develop the skills and competencies to market their goods and services more effectively. Suppliers will also be able to register with the Council as a potential supplier.
Councillor Moore said, 'We want to do all we can to help local businesses and people through these tough times.'
'We are able to offer support and advice on a range of issues such as how to supply the Council, information on grants and partnerships and dealing with business rates.'
'This is an excellent opportunity for local businesses to interact with the Council and to share their thoughts on what we can do to help local businesses and people. I will be present during the day, to talk to businesses about how we can all work together to ensure the city remains a vibrant economy '
