Liberal Democrat Executive Member for Children and Young People's Services, Councillor Carol Runciman will be sharing her vision for fostering services this week as she makes a speech to foster carers, young people and children's services professionals.

Councillor Runciman will be addressing delegates at the annual national conference of The Fostering Network, which takes place at the University of York on Friday 2nd October.

The conference will celebrate a new vision of foster caring and will aim to raise the aspirations of fostered children and young people, as well as the people that help to look after them.

Councillor Runciman will talk about the importance of foster carers to the city and the importance of family life to looked after children.

Speaking ahead of the event, Councillor Runciman said, "City of York Council is always looking for people who are interested in becoming foster carers. People from all walks of life and of all ages are welcomed and we are always happy to give information about the service, which is invaluable to the city and to our young people."

"Our inspection reports show that we have a first class service in York and that is in large part due to our excellent foster carers and the care they provide."

"I am looking forward to attending the conference and meeting the people that put so much time and effort into providing fostering services across the country."
