RESIDENTS HAVE THEIR SAY ON WARD COMMITTEE BUDGET

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Sun 4th Oct 2009

Residents in Skelton, Rawcliffe and Clifton Without can have their say on how next year's Ward Committee budget should be spent thanks to a consultation getting underway next week.

Local people will be able to find out about each of the 27 schemes bidding for money at the next Ward Committee meeting which is being held on Thursday 1st October at Skelton Village Hall from 7pm.

Representatives from the organisations who have submitted proposals will be on hand to answer questions and provide more information on how they would spend the Ward Committee funds.

People who attend the meeting will have the chance to express their views on the proposals by voting for their favourites as well as saying which schemes they feel shouldn't receive funding.

A consultation form will also be included in the Your Ward newsletter which is currently being delivered across the ward.

Local Liberal Democrat Councillor Irene Waudby will be attending the Ward Committee meeting to take part in the discussions about the proposals.

Councillor Waudby said, "The Ward Committee has agreed three key ambition statements that it is committed to working towards. These are keeping your community safe, valuing our young people and improving the street environment and road safety."

"The schemes seeking Ward Committee funding for next year help us to progress each of those ambitions and will help to make a real difference to the local community."

Councillor Waudby added, "The Ward Committee budget exists to fund projects that local people see as a priority for their area, therefore it is important that as many people as possible have their say on where they want the money to go."
