YORK PUPILS PRAISED FOR EXCELLENT KEY STAGE 2 RESULTS

Key Stage 2 Results published today by the Department for Children, Schools and Families show that pupils in York have once again performed better than the national average.

This confirms that the number of pupils achieving Level 4, the expected grade for 11 year olds, was above the national average in English and Maths while results in Science maintained pace with national figures.

The Number of pupils exceeding the expected Level 4 and achieving Level 5 was above the national average in English, Maths and Science with performance in English beating the national average by 6%.

Liberal Democrat Executive Member for Children and Young People's Services, Councillor Carol Runciman welcomed the results. She said, "These results show that York's primary schools continue to perform well and provide children with an excellent education."

"Our primary schools do an excellent job of preparing children for secondary school. I would like to congratulate all those involved on these excellent results."
