May 9, 2015 8:28 AM

Lib Dems Winning HereLiberal Democrats have made impressive gains on City of York Council winning 12 seats in total - up 4 from the 8 seats won in 2011.

It was a bad night for the ruling Labour Group losing 11 seats compared to 2011. The current make-up of the council is Labour (15), Conservative (14), Lib Dems (12), Greens (4) and Independents (2).

The Lib Dems won seats in Fulford & Heslington (Keith Aspden), Heworth Without (Nigel Ayre), Huntington & New Earswick (Chris Cullwick, Keith Orrell, Carol Runciman), Dringhouses & Woodthorpe (Stephen Fenton, Ashley Mason, Ann Reid), Westfield (Sue Hunter, Sheena Jackson, Andrew Waller) and Haxby & Wigginton (Ian Cuthbertson).

Thank you to everyone who voted for us and all our volunteers who worked so hard during the campaign.
