Dringhouses library opens after heating system replaced
Local councillors have welcomed the news that Dringhouses library has opened with a new heating system in place.
Due to issues with the heating system at Dringhouses Library, York Explore Libraries & Archives temporarily closed the library from Monday 13th February. Local councillors raised concerns about the impact of the temporary closure on the local community and urged Explore to ensure all necessary works are carried out as soon as possible.
Earlier in March York Explore Libraries & Archives confirmed that the library will open its doors once again on Thursday the 16th March after the heating system works are finished. Local councillors took the chance to visit the library earlier today.
Local councillor Stephen Fenton commented:
“The Dringhouses library is an important much-loved local community asset and provides crucial services to many residents. It’s great to hear that work is now finished to ensure the library can welcome visitors once again after a temporary closure.
“I’m proud that at a time when so many libraries are being closed all across the country, we are investing in facilities in York, from Dringhouses to Acomb, Clifton and Haxby, that make a real difference in our communities.”
