Fundraising event to mark International Women’s Day
A local charity is set to host a quiz night in a bid to raise funds to offer counselling support to vulnerable women in the city.
York Women’s Counselling Service is a small, local charity providing much needed counselling support for vulnerable women in the city regardless of their ability to pay.
The charity is hosting their annual Quiz Night on March 14th at St Oswald’s Church Hall, Fulford (19.00 - 22.00) to mark International Women’s Day and to raise funds to support women for whom counselling would otherwise be out of reach. The evening will include a light supper and our own bar to make a complete night out!
Anyone is welcome. Teams are of up to 6 people, but don't worry, if there's just one or two of you, we can team you up with others on the night

Councillor Carol Runciman commented: “On International Women's Day, we observe and celebrate the incredible contributions of women in every corner of the world, workplace and society, as well as reflect on the challenges faced by women daily. As we approach International women’s day, events such as this are a fitting way to mark the day and support an excellent cause.”
Joy Culliwick, YWCS Trustee, added: “YWCS provides one to one counselling to any woman in the York area who is experiencing emotional and psychological distress, often as a result of current or past emotional trauma. We provide help for as long as women need it, regardless of their ability to pay. .
“The evening will be a fun night out and attendees will be helping to raise much needed funds to support vulnerable women for whom counselling would otherwise be financially out of reach. Please join us or donate, if you can!”
