Garden waste dumped at Councillor’s home
Strensall ward Lib Dem councillor Tony Fisher woke on Saturday morning to find a sack of garden waste dumped on his driveway.
An unknown resident, who is presumably unhappy at the Labour council’s Green Bin Tax, has seemingly taken it upon themselves to direct their annoyance at their local councillor.
The Liberal Democrats have opposed the decision to impose the unpopular Green Bin Tax, but it now seems that residents are directing their anger at all councillors rather than just those Labour councillors who forced through the new tax.
Cllr Tony Fisher commented “I’m not surprised that residents are unhappy with the decisions being made by Labour locally and nationally. This is the political climate that Labour are creating with their programme of austerity.
“The Labour led council introduced the deeply unpopular Green Bin tax whilst charging the maximum council tax despite having promised at last year’s election to freeze council tax. And now we have the national Labour Government cutting the winter fuel allowance for many pensioners who are by no means wealthy, altogether adding £500 a year to residents’ costs.
“My Liberal Democrat colleagues and I will continue to oppose the Green Bin Tax and highlight all of Labour’s broken promises in the hope that they will start to listen to residents’ concerns.”
