Lib Dems slam wasted £31,860 on rebrand
Liberal Democrat Councillors are today calling out Mayor David Skaith for wasting £31,860 of residents’ money on a rebrand of the York & North Yorkshire Combined Authority.
This is despite it being revealed that there are 12 members of the new Combined Authority’s Communications team.
Liberal Democrat Councillors say that they are shocked an expensive rebrand has happened so soon after the formation of the Combined Authority and that the money would be better spent going towards reducing bus fares or fixing York’s crumbling roads and footpaths.
Liberal Democrat Councillor Andrew Hollyer said:
“The Combined Authority already has a perfectly adequate logo and this ridiculous rebrand suggest that Mayor Skaith is more concerned about how he is perceived than actually delivering results for the people of York. If he was determined to have a new logo, why didn’t he just ask his bloated Communications team to design one?
“Whilst our roads and footpaths crumble and bus fares go up yet again, resources and officer time are being spent on a new logo. It’s frankly beggars belief.
“Mayor Skaith should be focussed more on substance rather than style and get on and deliver investment that reflects residents’ priorities.”
