Liberal Democrats Announce Alan Page as Candidate for Parliament in York Central
The Liberal Democrats have announced Alan Page as their Parliamentary Candidate for the York Central constituency.
Alan lives in York with his wife of nearly 30 years and has three children. Something of a ‘political outsider’, Alan brings a formidable blend of international business experience and a desire to make York an even better place to live and work.
Recently returned to the UK after nearly two decades living and working in continental Europe, the United States, and Asia, Alan has amassed valuable experience in global business operations, specialising in negotiations and relationship management across diverse cultural landscapes. Now settled in York, Alan’s extensive international background has uniquely prepared him to appreciate and address the challenges of being a powerful advocate for York Central’s many distinct communities.
"Having spent nearly two decades navigating the complexities of international business across continents, I am delighted to represent my adopted hometown of York as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Parliament for the York Central constituency," said Alan. "My diverse experiences abroad have not only broadened my understanding of global challenges but have equipped me with transferable skills that are invaluable in addressing the needs of our communities. As something of a political outsider, I bring a fresh perspective and an unwavering commitment to restoring trust in politics while advocating for progressive policies that promote inclusivity, prosperity, and the creation of a fairer and greener society.
"I am deeply committed to transforming our broken political system so that it works in everyone’s interests, rather than just vested interests. We need leaders who are willing to challenge the status quo, prioritise the needs of the people over partisan interests, and work tirelessly to rebuild trust in our institutions."
Westfield Ward Liberal Democrat Councillor Andrew Waller has encouraged residents to back Alan’s campaign. “I am looking forward to working with Alan to make progress on the issues that matter most to local residents such as more visible policing, helping households with the cost of living crisis, providing better funding for basic services, opportunities for young people in training and skills for a new economy, better transport, and access to the NHS when you need it. Central Government has failed York, and people are being turned off politics at a time when democracy is more under threat than at any time since 1945. As Liberal Democrats we believe in working in partnership with residents to develop solutions, and Alan will bring real energy and enthusiasm to the team.”
Alan said “I want to bring my real-life experience and expertise to add to what is already a formidable local Lib Dem team, working hard for the communities we serve. We need leaders who are committed to finding practical solutions to the challenges our communities face every day."
